UNDERCURRENT is a video project I created during a brief stay in Paris in January 2019. The video consists of a sequence of frame-by-frame edits of the same photograph, each adjusted to different levels of exposure automation and specific color curve distortions.
The original photograph captured the hallway of the room we were staying in, located in the multi-floor underground section of an elegant building in the city's center. These subterranean levels featured small, decaying rooms with shared bathrooms, starkly contrasting with the bourgeois, pristine, and lofty structure above ground.
