ONEIRONAUTS is a photographic project undertaken during the COVID lockdown in Italy in 2020. Beginning with digital photos captured pre-COVID, I wanted to explore the themes of liminality and estrangement via uncanny portraits that blur the boundaries between reality and dreamscape. Using flesh as a graphic element, I aimed to evoke an atmosphere reminiscent of lucid dreaming and sleep paralysis. The subjects are ambiguously represented in a manner that places them in between posters, lifeless forms, statues, and wall stencils, creating a specific visual narrative.
